Yamaha YZF-R125 Service Manual: Installing the steering head
1. Lubricate:
- Upper bearing
- Lower bearing
- Bearing races
2. Install:
- Lower ring nut
- Rubber washer
- Upper ring nut
- Lock washer Refer to "CHECKING AND ADJUSTING THE STEERING HEAD" on page 3-22.
3. Install:
- Upper bracket
- Steering stem nut
NOTE:
Temporarily tighten the steering stem nut.
4. Install:
- Front fork legs Refer to "FRONT FORK" on page 4-44.
NOTE:
Temporarily tighten the upper and lower bracket pinch bolts.
5. Tighten:
- Steering stem nut

1. Wash:
Bearings
Bearing races
2. Check:
Bearings
Bearing races
Damage/pitting →Replace.
3. Replace:
Bearings

Other materials:
Checking the cooling system
1. Remove:
Side covers
Upper side cowlings
Refer to "GENERAL CHASSIS" on page 4-1.
2. Check:
Radiator "1"
Radiator inlet hose "2"
Radiator outlet hose "3"
Coolant reservoir hose "4"
Water pump breather hose "5"
Cracks/damage → Replace.
Refer to "RADIATOR" on page 6-1 ...
Removing the starter clutch
1. Remove:
Starter clutch bolts "1"
NOTE:
While holding the generator rotor "2" with the
sheave holder "3", remove the starter clutch
bolts.
Do not allow the sheave holder to touch the
projection on the generator rotor.

1. Check:
Brake caliper piston "1"
Rust/scratches/wear Replace the
brake
caliper piston.
Brake caliper cylinder "2"
Scratches/wear Replace the
brake caliper
assembly.
Brake caliper body "3"

assembly.
